We are all in the gutter but some of us are staring up at the stars
It has been 2 weeks and 2 days since I got home to London. It's a strange feeling coming home after being away, I feel like in the five months I have been gone everything and nothing has changed. Australia seems like a lifetime ago, a distant memory of somebody else's tale. A dream that I'm trying to hold onto but it slips away as the day goes on. The last week I was in Australia after we had booked our flight home, I tried to remember everything, the way everything looked and smelt and sounded, the feel of the sun on my back. I went over and over all my memories trying to store it all in my brain. When I was there I made all these promises to myself, I had felt like I had changed. But I guess the more things change the more things stay the same.

This post is amazing and i totally got what you were describing...i remember my last two days in Sydney...i went to the park by the botanical gardens and sat for hours...taking pictures and writing in my journal. thanks GOD for that journal! it has every memory i wanted to keep inside it and so many i'd forgotten already.
ReplyDeletei remember feeling the exact same way when i got back. in the days after getting back the memories were sooo vivid but with every day they became a little more distant until they became just memories and few and far in between where less and less things triggered them.
as the years go by i think you'll find your trip will remain one of the best times of your life..and you'll always reminisce about it fondly...but ultimately it will only push you to plan another amazing vacation for the next stage of your life :) xx

ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean! I traveled Europe for 5 months and when I came back I was excited for like a week then it was all the same again! I didn't keep a journal or anything but I remember random moments from my travels all the time and they never fail to bring a smile to my face! Keep up the good work on the blog! xx
